Job summary

University Health Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a dedicated Perioperative Registered Nurse to support care in the Operating Room and PACU. You will manage pre-op assessments and guide patients through recovery in PACU.

In this full-time role, you will collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia teams, monitor vital signs, manage pain, and educate patients and families about the recovery process.

Qualifications

• Current Missouri RN license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• BCLS certification required and maintained.
• ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
• PALS certification, if department requires it.
• Radiology certification or radiology competencies if radiology functions are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Operating Room: provide comprehensive care during surgeries with the OR team.
• PACU: monitor patients as they recover from anesthesia, manage post-operative pain, and assess vitals.
• Conduct thorough pre-operative assessments to ensure patients are prepared.
• Work with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
• Mentor nursing students and new staff members.
• Participate in committees, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and organizational policies.
