Job summary

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix front-end and back-end bugs, broken links, plugin/theme conflicts, and Website Host issues.
• Security & Maintenance: Conduct regular security audits, manage SSL certificates, backups, and cyber threat protection.
• Oversight: Develop, implement, and manage all aspects of the college’s plan for web-based media to ensure a unified user experience.
• Analytics & Reporting: Track site traffic, user behavior, and conversion metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
• Vendor & Resource Management: Oversee hosting providers, domain registrars, and external contractors.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced, adaptable Website Manager and Developer to oversee the growth, maintenance, and technical needs of the Cooper Union websites. In this role, you will support creative design, digital marketing, and back-end development. Your responsibilities include writing clean code, managing our Content Management System (CMS), improving site speed and security, and delivering an outstanding, secure user experience (UX).

Web Development & Technical Operations

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix front-end and back-end bugs, broken links, plugin/theme conflicts, and Website Host issues.
• Security & Maintenance: Implement regular security audits, manage SSL certificates, coordinate routine database backups, and protect against cyber threats.

Website Management

• Oversight: Works closely with the CTO, Admissions, Development, Communications, and Deans of each school to develop, implement, and manage all aspects of the college’s plan for web-based media with the goals of presenting a consistent, unified, and coherent user experience to enhance and further the College’s mission.
• Analytics & Reporting: Track site traffic, user behavior, and conversion metrics using tools like Google Analytics to drive data-backed improvements.
• Vendor & Resource Management: Oversee third-party hosting providers, domain registrars, and external technical contractors or tools.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in web development and website management.
• SEO & Analytics: Strong understanding of technical SEO, schema markup, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics.
• Infrastructure Knowledge: Experience managing outsourced website hosting environments, DNS records (A, CNAME, MX), SSL configurations,
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Web Development, Information Technology, Digital Marketing, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

• Strong design knowledge and skills; thorough knowledge of Web design and front-end development.
• Outstanding attention to detail, as well as the ability to understand the larger picture in relation to strategic planning required.
• Experience managing concurrent projects within a demanding environment.
• Experience with Drupal, MS SharePoint, and Git/GitHub.
• Basic understanding of UI/UX design principles and wireframing tools (Figma, Adobe XD)
• Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• Solution-oriented and high-level programming skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and optimize web pages for security and responsiveness

Annual Salary range: $95,000 - $105,000
