Job summary

Centro Escolar University in Pensacola, FL is seeking a 12-week internship focused on Safety, Survey/Estimating, Project Supervision and Field Engineering. You will learn JHA and HSO concepts, apply PPE on site and participate in jobsite audits.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a 4-year Civil/Mechanical/Environmental/Construction Eng program with strong English communication and MS Office skills, plus the ability to perform field surveying and basic construction math.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Construction Eng or related 4-year degree.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
• Able to handle physical tasks and operate with manual dexterity.
• Solid understanding of Construction Math concepts.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-hand support across Safety, Survey/Estimating, Project Supervision, and Field Engineering during a 12-week internship program.
• Gain understanding of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Hazard Safety Observations (HSO).
• Apply necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for jobsite activities.
• Observe and prevent safety incidents and conduct jobsite audits.
• Learn to interpret plans, set layouts, and survey for quantities.
• Gain knowledge in conversions and accurate surveying practices.
• Assess man-hours, time, and materials needed for production.
• Communicate and delegate work plans to field crews.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Science/Management, or related 4-year degree program.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Moderate to high proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to handle items and work with fingers.
• Full understanding of Construction Math concepts.
• Ability to perform moderate to high levels of physical activity in a field-based construction environment.
