Job summary

Stfrancis in Tampa, FL is offering a 12-week, full-time summer internship for students pursuing construction or engineering degrees. You will support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, document control, and progress reporting on heavy civil sites.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university.
• pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related fields.
• Enrolled in at least one class during the internship semester.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Good time management and teamwork.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Possess or able to obtain a valid state driver’s license before employment.
• Reliable transportation to project office.

Responsibilities

• Support project management with subcontractor and supplier coordination.
• Assist with material tracking, file management, and document control (submittals, RFIs, change orders).
• Learn estimating, schedule planning, project controls, and project reporting.
• Understand construction plans and interact with clients, managers, and employees.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Support the project management team with subcontractor and supplier coordination, material tracking, file management, document control (submittals, RFIs, and change orders), and progress reporting.
• Learn and perform project management functions including estimating, schedule planning, project controls, and project reporting.
• Understand and learn construction plans.
• Interact professionally with clients, managers, and employees.
• Perform other assigned duties as needed.

About You

• Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related fields.
• Enrolled in an accredited college/university, taking at least one class in the semester/quarter before the internship.

Compensation & Benefits

Work Environment

• Work will be performed on heavy civil and highway construction sites with loud noise levels.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor conditions including inclement weather, heat, humidity, dust, and asphalt.
• Regularly sitting for long periods at a desk in front of a computer screen.
• Some travel required between project site and corporate office.
