Job summary

The University of Texas at Arlington is seeking a web content designer to craft and maintain online visuals and collateral across multiple media platforms. You will design layouts, art, and digital assets to support events and initiatives, using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Adobe tools.

You will publish content to CMS platforms, ensure accessibility and SEO, and collaborate with the Online Communications team to translate customer needs into digital solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with two years of experience or six years of equivalent education/experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and Photoshop.
  • Experience designing, developing and delivering graphic content for print or electronic communications.

  • Create media and communications using technologies (HTML5, CSS3) and tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint and Premiere) to achieve department goals, project needs and client objective.
  • Publish content on CMS such as Cascade, Sitecore, Drupal, Joomla, or WordPress.
  • Monitor division’s websites for compliance with best practices, university policy, accessibility, privacy and SEO.
  • Monitor and report on website analytics, user behavior, and usage trends.
  • Assist in content development and visual management from concept to completed product for event and campaign promotion, including emails.

Purpose of Position

Engaged in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining content for web sites. Develop concepts, layouts, art and visual elements and all other aspects of creative collateral designed to support projects across multiple media platforms with strong emphasis on online and electronic solutions. Includes online, print and email design projects supporting strategic and integrated initiatives for TCE activities related to events.

Essential Functions
  • Create media and communications using technologies (HTML5, CSS3) and tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, PowerPoint and Premiere) to achieve department goals, project needs and client objective.
  • Publish content on content management systems (CMS) such as Cascade, Sitecore, Drupal, Joomla, or WordPress.
  • Monitor division’s web sites for compliance with industry best practices and university policy including language use, spelling, broken links, accessibility, privacy (GDPR) and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Monitors and reports on web site analytics, user behavior, and usage trends.
  • Assist in content development and visual management by creating and developing original designs from concept through completed product, code functional solutions for new and current email communications in the areas of event and campaign promotion, e-newsletters, and e-invites, mailings, publications, advertisements, environmental graphics.
  • Will work closely with the department's Online Communications team.
  • Formulate wireframes and comp files to translate customer needs into viable web and multimedia formats.
  • Coordinate and make critical thinking decisions with other members of the campus.
  • Assist with the creation of textual and visual content for print and web-based systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of experience in a related field or six (6) years of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and Photoshop. (2) years of experience developing, designing, and delivering graphic content for print or electronic communications; experience developing integrated communications and marketing materials or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four (4) years of experience with a demonstrated knowledge of 2 or more of the following HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, SASS, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere and content management systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Photoshop, Illustrator, CMS systems, wireframes, outlines, flowcharts/mind-maps, comp designs and presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote).
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of current technologies and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
  • Hybrid work environment (remote & office)
  • Eligible for 2 days remote per week.
Working Conditions
  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Position may be designated security-sensitive based on job duties or location.
