Job Title: Digital Content Producer (Per Diem / Freelance)

KCBS2 / KCAL9, part of the CBS Owned & Operated stations in Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced broadcast/digital journalist to join our digital team as a per diem / freelance digital content producer.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage content production across various platforms including websites, social channels, and streams.
2. Write, copyedit, and produce news content.
3. Distribute content on social media and support multiplatform streaming objectives, both live and recorded.
4. Coordinate with national and local editorial staff to enhance digital coverage and promotional opportunities.
5. Ensure content accuracy, spelling, and grammar as a diligent copyeditor.
6. Think creatively to troubleshoot technical issues.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience writing news in a newsroom.
• Experience with breaking news and digital content ownership.
• Ability to craft stories, headlines, and teases for broadcast and AP style content.
• Experience with content management systems and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok).
• Video and photo editing skills.
• College degree in journalism or communication, or equivalent work experience.
• Understanding of SEO strategies.
• Availability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• Strong editorial judgment, communication skills, and ability to pursue unique local content.
• Basic news producing knowledge and understanding of how newscasts are assembled.
• Proficiency in analyzing performance metrics.

Education and Experience:

• College Degree in journalism or communication required.
• Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Excellent conversational writing skills for engaging news content.
• High attention to detail and quality standards.
