Job description

Web Ops Lead
Grandir Solutions | Remote, Full-Time | Reports to Head of Client Success
About Grandir

Grandir Solutions is a marketing agency built for home service contractors. Our HQ is in Madison, WI. We are one of the fastest growing marketing agencies in the United States. We are in need of a talented and speedy Web Ops Lead that acts fast, thinks like a marketer, and can oversee a high volume of new website builds and edits weekly.

The Role

Right now, website builds and edits move through a dev team with no dedicated owner. There's no structured QA before a site reaches a client, no ticketing system for edit requests, and no one translating what an account manager or client is actually asking for into something a developer can execute cleanly. Account managers have been left to catch what falls through (checking for broken forms, leftover placeholder text, and pages that don't reflect what was promised) on top of their actual job of managing client relationships.

You’ll be the person who owns that gap. You’ll sit between our account managers and our development resources, translating requests into clear specs, running technical QA before anything ships, and building the systems and processes that don't exist yet. This is not a management role in the traditional sense (you won't be running performance reviews) but you will be the person developers and account managers both look to for direction on how work gets done (a manager of systems).

What we’re looking for is someone who can see a better way to manage this, help build it, then run it.

What you’ll own
  • Technical QA on every site before it reaches a client: broken links, working contact forms routed correctly, mobile responsiveness, page structure, clean SEO fundamentals (titles, meta descriptions, headers, alt text), no leftover placeholder content
  • Website briefs/handoffs: build the most efficient process to take website ideation to execution
  • Managing the relationship with our development resources: setting expectations, tracking turnaround, and ongoing coaching to your team on how to improve speed and quality
  • Helping build the ticketing/project system we don't have right now: edit requests come in as scattered Slack messages with no timeline and no visibility. You’ll stand up a real intake and tracking process (we’ve recently adopted ClickUp, but we’re open to what actually works)
  • Reducing how much gets custom-built from scratch: helping us move toward a set of proven, pre-built site templates that speed up delivery and cut down on the endless revision cycles that come from fully custom builds
  • Requirements gathering on premium custom builds: for clients paying for a fully custom site, you may sit in on scoping conversations so you know exactly what needs to be built
  • Working knowledge of hosting and domain management: comfortable with DNS and hosting environments to help us gain more organization over where our clients' sites live

This role is not client-facing day to day. Your work is with the internal team (account managers and developers).

What you bring
  • Hands-on WordPress and Elementor (or similar page builder) experience — you've built and maintained real sites, not just used WordPress casually
  • Enough technical depth to know what good work looks like — you need to be able to tell when a developer's output is actually done right, including when reviewing AI-assisted work
  • Working SEO knowledge — on-page fundamentals, and comfort advising on how to build out content for a page targeting a specific service and location
  • Experience coordinating with a development team — writing specs precise enough to prevent any "lost in translation" problem, and pushing back on quality without damaging the relationship
  • Relentless eye for QA — someone who doesn't just check boxes, but their stamp of approval carries serious weight
  • Comfort building process from scratch — you'll be setting up systems that don't currently exist, not just operating inside ones that do
  • The ability to communicate clearly with both non-technical account managers and technical developers — translating in both directions without losing precision
  • FIO mentality (figure it out) — We often inherit sites from an unfamiliar CMS and have unique requests made by our clients
Nice to have
  • Experience at a marketing or digital agency, ideally serving small-to-midsize business clients
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows
  • Background in a role that blended technical work with direct people interaction — client services, technical account management, or similar
  • Formal SEO training and experience
Why this role matters

We’ve grown from a handful of clients to over 250 in under four years, and this is one of the last pieces of that growth we haven’t built real infrastructure around. You’ll be inheriting some real mess, that’s the honest truth of it, but you’ll also have real backing to fix it and build something from the ground up, not just maintain someone else’s system.

We’re a team that takes pride in our craft. We’re looking for someone who wants to bring that same standard to how we build and manage websites (and has fun while doing it).
