Job summary

Quanta Magazine, based in New York, seeks a News Assistant with web production skills to support editorial and art teams. You will manage digital publishing tasks in WordPress, format content, and coordinate with the Simons Foundation staff.

The role reports to the Managing Editor and is located at the Simons Foundation offices. The ideal candidate has 1+ year in web production or admin support, strong organizational skills, and a proactive, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 1 year of web production and/or administrative support experience.
• Experience coordinating travel, calendars and meetings/events.
• Familiarity with WordPress, HTML, Google Sheets, Excel and Word in Mac OS.
• Newsroom or scientific setting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support web producer in preparing article packages for publication on QuantaMagazine.org.
• Edit and source visuals, secure usage rights for photos/illustrations/videos.
• Coordinate with developers to maintain/improve features.
• Assist with editorial tasks, fact-checking, and copy-editing schedules.
• Greet in-person staff, visitors, and guests; answer calls and inquiries.
