Job summary

Quanta Magazine seeks a News Assistant with web production skills to support editorial and art teams with digital publishing and day-to-day administrative tasks. This is a full-time role based at the Simons Foundation offices in New York City.

You will assist with production workflows, work with WordPress, coordinate with Quanta and the Simons Foundation, and help maintain a welcoming newsroom atmosphere while supporting production tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of web production or administrative support experience.
• Experience coordinating travel, calendars and events.
• Experience in newsroom or scientific setting is a plus.
• Familiarity with WordPress, HTML, Google Sheets, Excel and Word in Mac OS environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the web producer in preparing article packages for publication on QuantaMagazine.org.
• Assist with researching and editing photos, illustrations, and videos.
• Coordinate with developers to maintain and improve website features.
• Schedule internal and external meetings and conference calls.
• Process incoming freelancer invoices and manage approval matrix.
