Job summary

The City of Newton seeks a Digital Communications Librarian who will develop, manage and maintain the library website and all digital channels used by patrons to access information about the library and services.

Under supervision, you will update content, document standards, train staff on CMS tools, generate usage reports, assist patrons, troubleshoot technology, and collaborate with library teams to deliver accessible, user‑friendly online services for the community.

Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of advanced professional library science and operation of library equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with HTML coding and website content management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and present information to visitors or employees.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, manages and maintains the library website and digital communications.
  • Updates content and documents standards for easy future development.
  • Instructs staff on content updates using CMS tools and procedures.
  • Develops usage reports for website and digital tools.
  • Provides assistance and referral services to patrons; answers inquiries and helps locate information.
  • Collaborates with library staff to implement services meeting community needs.
  • Follows department and city policies and procedures.
