Job summary

Zohorecruit in Fort Meade, MD is seeking a Web Developer – Level 1 (Software Engineer 1) to join a cloud-based enterprise team delivering web services in AWS. You will own features end-to-end across UI, API, and data layers, design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud-hosted applications, and contribute to secure architectural decisions.

The role requires at least a Bachelor's in CS or equivalent and 7+ years of software engineering (11 years without degree).

Qualifications

• Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• DoD 8570 / 8140 IAM Level I certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CAP, GSLC).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus at least 7 years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope and complexity, OR 11 years of relevant software engineering experience without a degree (4 extra years substituting for the degree).
• Proven professional software development experience with Web Fundamentals (HTML5, CSS3) and RESTful API design.
• Linux (service management, log analysis, networking, basic shell automation).
• Relational databases, indexing, and query tuning.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain full-stack web applications and enterprise services (UI, API, database) within an Agile framework.
• Deploy, monitor, and support production services in AWS; troubleshoot incidents and perform root-cause remediation.
• Author technical documentation, architectural proposals, and interface designs.
• Participate in estimation, sprint planning, and peer code reviews.
• Integrate secure authentication/authorization workflows and apply secure coding principles.
• Configure and operate deployments in Linux environments.
• Design and optimize SQL queries and database schemas for performance.
