Job summary

Cahoot in Bridgeport, Connecticut is seeking a Web Developer / Software Engineering Intern to assist in the design and maintenance of software for our peer-to-peer merchant network. Ideal candidates have strong skills in Microsoft technologies and Agile methodologies.

Web Developer / Software Engineering Intern

At Cahoot, we are building a peer‑to‑peer network of merchants that optimizes order fulfillment to reduce distance, cost, and CO₂ emissions.

We are looking for an intern to help design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable software and infrastructure for our merchants.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and deployment of Cahoot’s internet‑based application by implementing complex, specialized, or highly technical components.
• Participate in formal QA methodologies and efficient release engineering processes in an Agile or XP environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Studio, VS.NET, IIS in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Exposure to developing web services and implementing a service‑oriented architecture.
• Familiarity with Microsoft web technologies (e.g., NUnit, FxCop, Nant).
• Experience with case‑driven and test‑driven iterative software development methodologies (Scrum, XP).
• Experience with debugging, code‑reviewing, code‑refactoring, and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of version control, issue tracking, and build/release management.
• Experience with rapid development cycles.
• GPA > 3.5 and at least 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Knowledge of scripting tools (Python) is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills, self‑motivation, and the ability to set and achieve goals in a fast‑moving environment.
