Job summary

Barrow Wise Consulting, LLC is seeking a web development and design professional to support NSF.gov content, manage the NSF Employee Portal, and produce accessible, clear webpages. You will work with Drupal CMS, ServiceNow, and SharePoint to draft, publish, and maintain site content.

The role emphasizes 508 compliance, plain language, and collaboration with NSF staff. On-site duties will be performed in Alexandria, VA, with opportunities to lead small teams and contribute to special projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of professional, expert-level experience required.
  • Five years of web development and web design experience with the federal government or academia.
  • Expert-level HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the NSF Web Team by drafting and posting all external content on NSF.gov and managing internal content on the NSF Employee Portal.
  • Respond to publishing/editing requests, create webpages, news and event items using Drupal CMS, ServiceNow, and SharePoint.
  • Create clear, compelling webpage layouts conforming to WCAG 2.0/Section 508 and plain language requirements.
  • Format and upload PDFs, images, and files to the website.
  • Provide timely customer support to NSF staff and track requests in ServiceNow/Microsoft Lists.

Responsibilities
  • Support the NSF Web Team, which drafts and posts all external content on NSF.gov and manages internal content on the NSF Employee Portal.
  • Respond to publishing and editing requests from NSF staff, creating webpages, news and event items, official funding and guidance documents, and other content using the Drupal Content Management System (CMS), ServiceNow Employee Center, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Create clear, compelling webpage layouts that conform to web design best practices, WCAG 2.0/Section 508 requirements, and federal plain language requirements.
  • Format and upload PDFs, images, and other files to the website.
  • Provide timely, high-quality customer support to NSF staff, handling requests and inquiries, resolving issues, and tracking all requests/inquiries within the NSF Web Team ticketing system (built in ServiceNow and Microsoft Lists). Monitor ticket dashboards to ensure tickets are prioritized, annotated, and completed.
  • Advise NSF staff on web design best practices, including consistent and clear layouts, 508 compliance, and the use of visuals to enhance engagement and understanding.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned by OLPA staff.

Ideal Candidate
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor's Degree and five years of experience
  • Five years of professional, expert-level experience in web development and web design services with the federal government or academia.
  • Provide three website samples.
  • Expert-level experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Expert-level experience leading small teams to perform web development services.
  • Experience with 508 compliance.
