Web Communications Specialist (SAN DIEGO, CA)

As a key member of the Communications team, the Web Communications Specialist, with some direction, updates and creates mbeweb.com content in support of project sponsors’ initiatives and executes those content projects in the SharePoint Content Management System (CMS). He/She determines content needs, writes and edits content, makes necessary revisions, facilitates translations and tracks quality of assignments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Creates content assets utilizing the CMS to place new content onto the website.
• Proposes CMS and content development process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Edits content to ensure compliance and consistency with editorial, brand, and design standards.
• Reviews content provided by Subject Matter Experts (SME) to ensure compliance with standards.
• Revises content as per recommendations to meet expectations set by content sponsors/SME’s.
• Clarifies content requests with project sponsors/SME’s and Content Maintenance Lead to ensure accurate interpretations.
• Reviews wireframes (i.e., graphical representations of application pages) and page specifications associated with content projects to ensure requirements are understood.
• Conducts research on web development utilizing multiple codes (e.g., JavaScripts, CSS, etc.) to ensure use of best applications.

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field required.

• At least one year experience in a corporate environment, preferably in communications.
• Knowledge of Content Management Systems preferably Microsoft SharePoint 2007 or 2010.
• Must have strong communication skills, including excellent writing/editing skills and the ability to exercise diplomacy and tact when dealing with others, particularly upper management.
• Other Skills and Abilities:
• Computer literacy a must; knowledge of basic HTML or other web technologies
• Knowledge of AP style and web writing standards
