Job summary

Responsibilities

Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Checks all warp start-ups before they are put into production.
• Follows the warp construction sheet in all areas & ensures that the warp and construction sheet match.
• Re-checks all sign-ins from the previous shifts to ensure a mistake has not been made. (All QC sheets from previous shifts will be at the QC station.)
• On the first round of the shift writes the date, crew, operator’s initials, and his or her initials on the fabric roll ticket on each machine.
• Makes as many rounds as possible through all the looms looking for defects in the fabric. Bypasses stopped looms, however, is sure to inspect them shortly after startup begins.
• Runs hand across the width of the fabric to feel for imperfections. Rubs in both the warp and fill directions to determine if a defect is present such as tight ends in the warp or heavy spots in the fill.
• Looks upward through the fabric to check for streaks or other visual distortions. If a problem exists, stops the loom and notifies the operator immediately.
• Looks for repeating defects. If found, stops the loom, identifies the defect in the fabric using defect marking tape, and notifies the operator. The operator and fixer should take care of it. Follows up soon after to ensure the problem has been corrected.
• If a serious defect is found, notifies the supervisor the first time it is found. Otherwise, contacting the supervisor is only required if the same defect is found on the same loom more than once. If the same defect is found three times on the same loom, notifies the Weave Room Production Manager.
• Marks random/non-repeating defects with defect marking tape. Allows the loom to continue running. Alerts the operator to the problem.
• Denotes problems or comments on the backside of the job card posted at each loom. Ensures the front side of the “roll” cards are completely filled out. Writes the time and defect (if any found) on all rounds that are made.
• Reviews the roll ticket of each roll that is cut to go to finishing. Marks the ticket burl or no burl and which finishing range it goes to. Keeps in mind that all rolls with fuzz marked on the ticket by QC must be burled.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or dept. manager.

Position Requirements:

• Must be able to read, write, perform simple math and be able to follow written/verbal instructions and have good manual dexterity.
• Needs to be willing to work 12-hour shifts and be able to work overtime as required.
• Requires being able to stand and perform strenuous work for long hours in heat, cold, humidity and noise.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. without causing injury to him/herself.
