Job summary

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP) is seeking a Weatherization Technician to perform weatherization services in eligible homes. Under supervision, you will install materials, operate blower doors and insulation blowers, and use hand and power tools.

The role requires safety-conscious construction skills and ability to follow specifications. Position is full-time, 40 hours weekly, with scheduling Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of six months hands-on weatherization or housing rehabilitation experience.
• Knowledge of safety practices when using power/hand tools for weatherization/rehabilitation.
• Ability to perform carpentry and paint stabilization tasks.
• Ability to understand and follow project specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform weatherization services in program-eligible homes or units.
• Operate blower doors and insulation blowers and use hand/power tools.
• Maintain and service equipment as needed and follow safety protocols.
• Assist with housing rehabilitation and lead-safe work practices.
• Follow local codes and lead-safe procedures in all tasks.

Position Overview

Job Title: Weatherization Technician.

Position Type: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

Schedule: Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Pay Range: $21.87 - $25.80 hourly depending on experience.

Position Goal

The Weatherization Technician is responsible for performing weatherization services in homes and housing units of program-eligible participants. Under direct supervision from the Weatherization Support Supervisor, duties include; installing materials, operating blower doors and insulation blowers, operating other hand and power tools, performing equipment maintenance, and generally performing various aspects of manual labor. The position requires the skills necessary to perform housing rehabilitation housing repairs, lead-based paint interim controls using current construction industry standards, and following local codes using at minimum lead-safe work practices.

Qualifications & Conditions Of Employment

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of six (6) months of hands‑on experience performing weatherization and/or housing rehabilitation duties.
• Good knowledge of safety practices regarding the proper use of power and/or hand tools and equipment utilized to perform home weatherization/rehabilitation services.
• Demonstrated ability and efficiency to perform carpentry and paint stabilization.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and follow specification write‑ups.

Conditions of Employment

• Must be able to pass spirometry and physical agility test prior to hire.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Valid Car Insurance.
