Job summary

St. Clair County (IL) is seeking a Weatherization Energy Auditor to perform field audits of low-income homes, conduct health and safety tests, and analyze data with energy modeling software to identify cost-effective conservation measures.

The role requires two years’ related experience, a high school diploma, and Illinois driver’s license, with responsibilities including client education and ensuring compliance with IHWAP standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of experience in building/construction trades or completion of training for construction management.
• Must satisfactorily complete coursework and proficiency examination for Certified Weatherization Energy Auditor and BPI Quality Control Inspector.
• Must have valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Must establish permanent residence within St. Clair County within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Perform field audits and assessments of low-income residential properties.
• Conduct diagnostic, health and safety testing.
• Enter data into energy modeling software to determine cost-effectiveness of proposed measures.
• Educate clients on upgrades to lower utility bills and follow up on satisfaction.
• Generate detailed work order specifications for weatherization crews.
• Ensure audits and work comply with Federal, State and local policies and program requirements.
• Review and inspect completed weatherization measures using the whole-house approach.
• Prepare reports and notices and provide training to crews.
• Attend IHWAP training sessions and maintain compliance with Illinois Weatherization program rules.
