Job summary

Champaign County Regional Planning Commission seeks a Traveling Energy Auditor to support Illinois Community Action Agencies. This role requires extensive travel (up to 75% of time) to assess building performance, energy efficiency, and client health and safety, with remaining time at the Training Center in Champaign, IL.

Eligible candidates have 2+ years in construction-related fields, a high school diploma, and should obtain BPI Building Science Principles within the first month and Illinois

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience in construction, building inspection, cost estimation, housing rehabilitation, etc. or a combination of training and experience.
• Must obtain the BPI Building Science Principles Certificate within the first month of employment.
• Must obtain the Illinois Energy Auditor Training Program certification within 6 months of employment.
• Must have a current and valid Illinois driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively (up to 75% time) to Community Action Agencies across Illinois.
• Provide services to agencies lacking staff in building performance roles and operate specialized tools/equipment.
• Recommend training for agency staff when deficiencies are found.
• Time not spent in the field will be at the Training Center in Champaign, IL.

Time not spent in the field will be spent at the Training Center located in Champaign, IL.

• At least 2 years experience in construction, building inspection, cost estimation, housing rehabilitation, etc. or a combination of training and experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Have good working knowledge of construction methods and building materials.
• Must obtain the BPI Building Science Principles Certificate within the first month of employment.
• Must obtain the Illinois Energy Auditor Training Program

Certification within the first 6 months of employment.

• Must have a current and valid Illinois drivers license.
• Math skills
• Basic knowledge of home performance
• Basic knowledge of building science
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Suite Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Characteristics and Abilities:
• Teaching experience
• Already holds BPI certifications such as EA and QCI
• Fluency in Spanish
• Strong interest in sustainability, energy-efficiency, education, or health sciences
• Experience with energy modeling software
• Schedule: 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m., M-F (Flexibility is necessary to support the goals of the ICRT Team.) \ Worksite: 2111 S.
