Community Council of South Central Texas, Inc. seeks a Weatherization Assessor to perform home energy assessments and determine repair measures while ensuring eligibility compliance. This role acts as a liaison between contractors and clients and tracks weatherization projects.

The position involves energy testing, reporting, and coordinating with contractors to implement improvements, with travel within the service area. Knowledge of DOE/TDHCA standards and LIHEAP processes is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of building construction or related work experience (weatherization, carpentry, contracting, inspection, energy efficiency).
• OSHA card and EPA lead certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months).
• Willingness to work toward BPI Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certification.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record and be willing to travel daily within service area.
• Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8:00am–5:00pm.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug test and motor vehicle records check.

Responsibilities

• Conducts home energy assessments for single and multi-family units to determine allowable energy-related repairs and improvements.
• Interviews applicants to gather information on energy usage, health and safety issues, and heating systems.
• Performs testing protocols including pre-combustion appliance safety testing for safety and CO emission checks.
• Completes walkthrough assessments to record appliance/HVAC data for estimates.
• Uses diagnostic equipment (blower door tests, duct blaster, infrared cameras) to identify energy-saving measures.
• Prepares a comprehensive house assessment/report with recommended improvements.
• Develops cost estimates using contractor price lists and enters data into NEAT/MHEA and LIHEAP priority list.
• Develops work orders and coordinates with contractors; tracks project progress and ensures timely completion.
• Provides customer service and acts as liaison between contractors and clients; offers energy education and conservation tips.
