Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a Lead Wax Molder to produce wax molds and provide strong leadership for the molding team. You will champion safety and 6S initiatives, coordinate workflow, and ensure quality in all molding operations.

The role requires hands-on molding work, equipment setup, and daily paperwork, with focus on training and staffing to meet production targets in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the wax molding team to ensure safety and 6S initiatives are followed
  • Operate wax press machinery and related tooling in a safe, efficient manner
  • Read and follow wax molding setup techniques and document daily paperwork
  • Inspect wax patterns for quality and document tooling issues
  • Assign work, assess training needs, and move operators to qualified tasks
  • Audit quality and quantity of work and report performance to supervisor

Job description

This is a working Lead role where you will both produce wax molds and provide exceptional leadership to your team.

What You'll Do
Leadership
  • Champion Safety and 6S Initiatives
  • Hold team accountable for following all policies and procedures
  • Prioritize workflow and keep key parts moving for TP plan or LTPO recovery
  • Demonstration of excellent communication skills
  • Answer questions regarding the processing of parts
  • Verify daily staffing and report any staffing issues/needs to Supervisor
  • Assign work to operators
  • Assess training needs and coordinate training as needed
  • Move operators to different job assignments that they are qualified to perform
  • Stop the work of operators, if appropriate (in the absence of a supervisor)
  • Audit the quality and quantity of work performed by operators
  • Provide input to Supervisors regarding operator punctuality, tardiness, and other aspects of overall performance
  • Assume responsibility of routine operations in a Supervisor’s absence
  • Must be able to establish and track T-put plans for MS 1
Wax Molding
  • Operate in a safe and efficient manner all wax press machinery, equipment and related tooling
  • Perform proper cleaning, handling and storage of wax molding tooling
  • Read and follow wax molding set up techniques and instructions associated with each tool
  • Perform general cleaning of the molding area and equipment
  • Inspect wax patterns for acceptable quality criteria
  • Appropriately document all daily paperwork and forms associated with the molding operation
  • Identify and document tooling damage and operational issues
  • Process paperwork and physically move tools in and out of the department as required
  • Set up and inspect new and reworked tooling
  • Receive and inspect raw materials
  • Perform leach tank operations as needed in a safe and efficient manner
  • Write work instructions for the molding operation
  • Adhere to plant and department safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as Wax Molder required
  • Leadership experience preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to read work instructions and complete basic documentation
  • Lift and move up to 35 lbs.
  • Stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Read instructions and write
  • Use handheld tools to assemble and disassemble molding tools
  • Use overhead cranes, pallet jacks and various lifting devices
  • Operate a forklift
  • Work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
