Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking an on-site Molder to operate molding machines, prepare tooling dies and inspect wax parts. You will train less experienced operators and ensure dimensional integrity while maintaining safety practices.

The role requires following technique cards, reading specifications, and performing basic math. Training is provided on the job with forklift safety certification and potential hazardous waste training.

Qualifications

  • Skill in wax molding operations as demonstrated by 6–12 months of competent performance as a Molder or equivalent training/experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards/load cards and other instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
  • Written language skills required.
  • Physical ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, disassemble, prepare and position tooling dies; change die inserts as required.
  • Set up, monitor and control mold machine functions; keep dies/inserts clean.
  • Inspect wax parts, trim and place on fixtures to maintain dimensional integrity.
  • Maintain proper wax supplies and document all process modifications.
  • Adhere to safety rules, operate equipment safely and report safety issues.
  • May train less skilled operators and perform other tasks as directed.

MISSION

To operate molding machines to produce small and/or less complex wax pattern and gating components of the highest quality. To inspect, trim and clean wax parts as required. To train less experienced operators as assigned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Tooling Preparation

Objective: To accurately prepare tooling dies for operation.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Assembles, disassembles, prepares and positions tooling dies for operation; changes die inserts as required.
  2. Adds chills and solubles per Technique Cards.

Other Marginal Job Functions:

  1. Removes and cleans tooling after operation.
  2. Performs minor repairs on tooling as required (TBO, LSBO only).
Mold Machine Operation

Objective: To operate complex molding machines accurately and efficiently using technique cards and established set-up procedures to maintain quality and dimensional integrity of the product.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Sets up, monitors and controls mold machine functions.
  2. Keeps dies and/or inserts clean during molding machine operations.
  3. Removes wax parts from die, inspects for defects, and trims.
  4. Places on proper fixtures in order to maintain dimensional integrity of parts.
  5. Ensures proper wax supplies are maintained for mold machine operation.

Other Marginal Job Functions:

  1. Initiates and implements corrective action to resolve quality and tooling problems as needed.
  2. Develops and assists in tech card creation.
Completes logs and records
  1. Documents all modifications to process.
Safety

Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  2. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  3. Identifies and reports safety problems.
  4. Meets all production and quality standards.

  2. PCC's Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.

QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Skill in the wax molding operations, as demonstrated be six to twelve months of competent performance of Molder OR any equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  2. Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards, load cards and other types of special instructions.
  3. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  4. Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
  5. Written language skills required.
  6. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
