Job summary

Greenville Water is seeking a Watershed Manager to lead and supervise the maintenance and protection of its watersheds and related structures in South Carolina. You will plan, direct, and oversee watershed activities to ensure the highest quality raw water supply and regulatory compliance under occasional supervision.

You will manage staff, coordinate with multiple groups, monitor budgets, and drive safety and emergency response initiatives, including dam safety and wildland fire protection.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Watershed Management, Engineering, Forestry or Environmental Science with 5 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain Red Cross certifications in SCDNR Boating Safety, Water Safety, CPR, and First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Manages and directs watershed staff; oversees maintenance, security, safety, environmental compliance, emergency preparedness, and reservoir operations.
• Develops and implements standard operating procedures for assigned duties.
• Trains and inspects staff; handles scheduling, performance reviews, transfers and promotions.
• Develops budgets and staffing plans; coordinates with maintenance, laboratory, engineering, and plant operations groups.
• Supports Forest Ecology, Rx Fire, Hydrology, Water Quality, Fisheries, and Wildlife initiatives.
• Oversees dam safety inspections and reservoir operating decisions; manages security for the North Saluda Watershed.
• Responds to reservoir and watershed emergencies 24/7; coordinates with emergency services as needed.
• Ensures safety programs and training records are accurate and up-to-date.
