Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks a Watershed Maintainer to perform maintenance, operation, and inspection of facilities within the Schoharie Facility Crew. You will support water delivery to NYC, work with the Water distribution plant, and may pursue NYSDOH license requirements.

Responsibilities include maintaining roads, lands, dams, and equipment; keeping accurate records; and assisting skilled tradespeople.

Qualifications

One year of full-time satisfactory experience in operation and maintenance of water facilities.
High school diploma or equivalent required; higher education may be beneficial.
Driver license valid in New York required.
Eligibility for the 55-a Program for qualified individuals with a disability.

Responsibilities

Perform maintenance and repairs on facilities, lands, roads, bridges, and dams.
Maintain accurate operation records and use computers for data logging and communication.
Conduct road repairs and operate machinery to support tasks.
Paint buildings and perform basic carpentry.
Keep reservoirs and watershed areas clean and maintained.
Assist skilled tradespeople with specialized maintenance.
Operate valves and perform basic mechanical maintenance for water delivery.
Operate industrial power equipment such as snowplows and loaders.
