Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is seeking Watershed Maintainers for the Drinking Water Operations Directorate at Hillview Reservoir, Yonkers, NY. You will operate, maintain, and inspect water treatment facilities, reservoirs and aqueduct systems serving New York City.

Applicants must have a four-year high school diploma or equivalent with related experience; a New York State driver license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or educational equivalent with required experience in operation/maintenance of water facilities or related assets.
• Must have a valid motor vehicle driver license in New York State for duration of employment.
• Some positions open to the 55-a Program for qualified individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control process equipment and treatment systems using PMCS/SCADA.
• Perform inspections, take water samples, maintain logs and ensure water quality per regulations.
• Operate and maintain reservoirs, aqueducts, and related facilities and equipment.
• Load and manage chemicals, maintain safety and environmental compliance.
• Maintain and repair facilities, perform carpentry, and assist skilled tradespeople.
• Work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
