Job summary

NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is hiring Watershed Maintainers for the Hillview Reservoir area in Yonkers, NY. You will operate and monitor water treatment systems, assist with maintenance of reservoirs and watershed lands, and support emergency response duties.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a NY driver license, and willingness to obtain NYSDOH water treatment certifications as needed. Shifts include nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one of the following:
• Driver license valid in New York; maintained during employment.
• May require NYSDOH Water Treatment Plant Operator certification (2A/2B) as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor process control equipment and SCADA systems.
• Load, handle and monitor chemical feed to water; maintain safety and compliance.
• Inspect reservoirs, watersheds, and facilities to ensure proper operation and maintenance.
