Job summary

The City of New York’s DEP seeks a Watershed Maintainer to join the Schoharie Facility Crew, performing operations, maintenance, inspection, and minor repairs across watershed facilities and equipment, including reservoirs and aqueduct systems.

The role requires NY driver’s license, potential NYSDOH Water Treatment Grade C license, and the ability to work in various weather and field conditions in Prattsville, NY.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and one of the following.
• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in related trades.
• Driver License valid in New York; must be maintained for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on facilities, lands, roads, bridges, dams, and other structures with tools and equipment.
• Maintain records of operations, equipment performance, maintenance activities, and water quality data.
• Conduct road repairs and maintenance activities including mowing and dam embankments.
• Paint buildings, structures, and equipment; perform basic carpentry tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness of reservoir and watershed areas and surroundings.
• Assist skilled tradespeople in maintenance and repair tasks.
• Operate valves and perform basic mechanical maintenance to support water delivery.
• Operate industrial power equipment such as snowplows, graders, backhoes and loaders.
