Job summary

City of Atlanta seeks an experienced supervision professional to oversee water distribution system maintenance and meter installation, ensuring safety and compliance. This role requires CDL Class A and a background in wastewater or water system maintenance, with the ability to manage crews and coordinate with other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; four (4) years of construction or maintenance experience in wastewater collection system.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A.
• Preferred: Prior supervisory experience; Water Distribution Operator License.

Responsibilities

• Supervises assigned crew to the completion of corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance activities associated with the water distribution system.
• Ensures effective, safe completion of jobs in compliance with established rules, regulations and policy guidelines.
• Trains, instructs, and coaches crew in performing repair and maintenance on other systems and structures as required; assignments typically include repairing broken mains and service lines, installing water meters, valves, curb cocks, corporations, and hydrants.
• Ensures daily job record documentation (i.e., work orders) are submitted.
• Transports crew to work sites; operates heavy equipment.
• Implements appropriate control for traffic and pedestrian safety.
• Maintains equipment and tools.
• Inspects and assesses completed work.
• Ensures daily job record documentation is submitted for SOM system update.
• Provides input for crew members performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Answers questions and provides information to the public; demonstrates diplomatic customer service.
• Responds to phone calls and emails.
• Uses expertise to adjust methods to accommodate unforeseen site conditions.
• Assists with hands-on training of staff and new hires.
