Job summary

H 2 O Innovation in Bethel, NY is seeking a Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator in Training to participate in daily testing, data entry, and routine maintenance for drinking water and wastewater facilities.

This full-time training role offers on-the-job learning, safety emphasis, on-call availability, and certification opportunities as you progress toward Operator status. Responsibilities include sampling, logging results, basic repairs, and team support to ensure compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Possession of a valid state driver’s license.
• Background screening and motor vehicle record checks as part of the hiring process.
• Willingness to obtain water/wastewater certifications as part of career development.
• Technical or mechanical experience is preferred.
• Computer skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine water and wastewater tests, enter data, collect regulatory samples, and perform basic maintenance and repairs.
• Enter test results and readings into logbooks and data systems; report abnormalities to the manager.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and report needed repairs.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment under manager’s direction.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the facility, including waste removal and groundskeeping.
• Track lab supplies and inform the manager when replenishing supplies.
• Report issues or operational changes to the manager promptly.
• Respond to on-call emergencies within 60 minutes when scheduled.
• Assist teammates and train staff as needed to ensure efficient operations.
• Maintain assigned vehicle and follow safety policies.
• Follow all safety guidelines and report safety concerns.
• Seek guidance when uncertain about procedures; training position to understand all aspects of operations.
• Perform additional duties as required to support operations.
