Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Structural Engineering (Water/Wastewater) Intern to join our Water/Wastewater team in Fort Worth, TX. You will work alongside licensed engineers on planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience across design and construction phases.

Applicants are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with interest in water/wastewater.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• Strong interest in structural engineering within the water and wastewater industry.
• Familiarity with structural analysis or design software is a plus (e.g., finite element modeling tools, Autodesk platforms).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural design and analysis tasks for water and wastewater facilities under the guidance of licensed engineers.
• Support the development of structural plans, layouts, and design concepts.
• Help prepare drawings, sketches, and calculations for incorporation into construction documents.
• Conduct research on design options, codes, and standards applicable to water and wastewater structures.
• Assist with basic calculations such as structure heights and weights, concrete quantities, and equipment fit‑up.
• Support cost estimating efforts, including quantity take‑offs and gathering vendor information.
• Review shop drawings and technical submittals with oversight from senior staff.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
• Assist with field observations and documentation of existing conditions or construction progress, as needed.
• Use computer‑assisted engineering and design software to support project documentation and analysis.
