Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Structural Engineering (Water/Wastewater) Intern to join our Water/Wastewater team. Undergraduate and graduate students will work with experienced engineers on planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

The internship offers exposure to structural engineering practices, supports project documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across design and construction phases.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Interest in structural engineering for water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Familiarity with structural analysis or design software is a plus (e.g., finite element tools, Autodesk).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Assist with structural design and analysis tasks for water and wastewater facilities under licensed engineers.
• Support development of structural plans, layouts, and concepts.
• Prepare drawings, sketches and calculations for construction documents.
• Research design options, codes, and standards for water and wastewater structures.
• Assist with basic calculations (heights, weights, concrete quantities).
• Support cost estimating via quantity take-offs and vendor data.
• Review shop drawings and submittals with senior staff.
• Participate in project meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist with field observations and document existing conditions or progress.
• Use CAD/CAE software to support documentation and analysis.
