Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a seasoned engineering and project management professional to oversee large water and wastewater capital projects from inception through construction. You will mentor project managers, coordinate with consultants and city officials, and ensure timely delivery and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include budgeting, contract administration, design reviews, public communications, and close coordination with developers.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years related work experience in engineering or construction management preferably in civil engineering or municipal capital improvement projects.
• Professional Engineer (or equivalent credentials; may be required depending on assignment).
• Experience with budgeting, contracts, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and coordinates work activities of assigned staff; evaluates performance and mentors staff.
• Provides expert technical advice to consultants, contractors, engineers, City officials, and the public.
• Leads planning, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement activities for capital projects.
• Reviews construction plans, designs, and specifications to ensure compliance with standards.
• Serves as liaison to public, developers, and city officials; coordinates public relations and project updates.
