Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead Water/Wastewater Plants Division projects in the Jacksonville, FL area. You will oversee the project from estimating through completion, focusing on safety, owner satisfaction, cost, schedule, and quality control.

Responsibilities include building client relationships, managing cost accounting, scheduling, and coordinating with subcontractors, vendors, and the project team. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.
• Must have water/wastewater construction experience.
• Five+ years of experience in engineering, construction, or related field with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with client/owner, architect, and engineer to secure repeat business.
• Maintain a positive image with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and team members.
• Partner with Preconstruction Services for value engineering, estimating assistance, and proposals.
• Set up and maintain project cost accounting and budgets.
• Develop and maintain the project schedule.
• Support permitting, testing, and inspection requirements.
• Familiar with owner contract requirements and delivery methods.
• Negotiate subcontractor agreements and equipment/material orders.
• Develop a Schedule of Values and generate monthly payment applications.
• Review and approve subcontractor pay applications and vendor invoices.
• Track subcontractor change orders and progress.
• Facilitate coordination meetings and document minutes.
• Manage contracts, bonds, insurance certificates, and warranties.
• Monitor submittals, shop drawings, and PO processes for timely delivery.
• Monitor budgets, schedules, cost reports and weekly progress reviews.
• Visit jobsites to review progress, production planning, and safety.
• Manage startup and commissioning where applicable and provide owner training.
