Weston & Sampson is currently seeking a Project Manager with 8-15 years of experience to work in Northeast Florida. The Project Manager will preferably be someone who has knowledge of municipal water, wastewater, and reclaimed water-related client services.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and lead:
- Project/tasks and clients in the planning, design and construction of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, storm water systems, and pump/lift stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration for both new construction and for rehabilitation work.
- Condition assessment evaluations for water, wastewater, and storm system assets including pipelines and pump/lift stations using a variety of approaches and technologies.
- Projects, including scoping, task management, invoicing and final closeout. Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work of a major project, or several small-moderate scope projects.
- Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineer & design/drafting technical staff.
- Planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services and will include activities focused on design of municipal water/wastewater projects, the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverables.
- Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.
- Makes technical presentations.
- Lead project teams on the design and delivery of water/wastewater/reclaimed water conveyance and facilities design, including related studies.
- Reviews assigned project(s) to define project scope, determine work procedures/sequences and develops schedules, budgets, staffing, sub-consultant involvement, and progress billing points.
- Perform sophisticated and complicated designs and calculations in accordance with established standards and software.
- Support procurement including supplier qualifications, bid reviews, process design requirements, review of design drawings and supplier documents, successful resolution of manufacturing discrepancies, support for installation, generation of as-built drawings, and onsite support.
- Participate in construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), submittal reviews, construction site visits, and design revisions/ management of change, startup and commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Pursue new work associated with planning, design, and construction administration of a variety of water/wastewater/reclaimed water related projects for public clients as proposed project manager on competitive pursuits, including positioning, marketing strategies, proposing, participating in interviews, and negotiating contracts, to the extent required.
- Participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental engineering or civil engineer required, Master’s Degree in Civil in Environmental Engineering a plus.
- P.E. license in Florida or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- 8-15 years in working with municipal clients in engineering or project management roles.
- Strong written and verbal communication and technical skills along with project plans and presentations.
- Planning, organizing, and controlling the activities of a project team.
- Experience with design of municipal water/wastewater/reclaimed water facilities and/or conveyance infrastructure.
- Demonstrated capabilities and success in managing medium to large projects on-time and within budget, multi-office projects and/or multiple projects.
- Established relationships with municipal clients in Northeast Florida in the areas of water, wastewater, and/or reclaimed water projects.
- Driver’s license required.
