Job summary

Trotter and Associates, Inc. seeks an experienced municipal Project Manager – Water/Wastewater to lead planning, design, and delivery of infrastructure improvements across Illinois and Wisconsin.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with municipalities and regulators, and guide projects from concept through construction. Join a team focused on technical excellence, collaborative problem-solving, and long-term client relationships, with growth in project leadership and business development

Qualifications

• P.E. license required or clearly stated as part of qualification.
• 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience.
• Experience designing municipal water/wastewater infrastructure including pump/lift stations and treatment facilities.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting requirements.
• Experience preparing reports, plans, specs, and construction documents.
• Experience working with municipalities or public-sector clients.
• Strong communication, PM, organizational, and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and preparation of plans, specs, calculations, reports, and construction documents.
• Design municipal water/wastewater infrastructure including pumps and treatment facilities.
• Review and analyze water/wastewater projects.
• Coordinate permitting and regulatory reviews.
• Manage schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables.
• Coordinate with municipalities, contractors, utilities, regulators, and internal teams.
• Assist with bidding, construction observation, and project implementation.
• Mentor staff engineers and support business development.
