Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. seeks an experienced Project Superintendent for water and wastewater construction in the Tampa, FL area. You will oversee field personnel across treatment plant and line work projects, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion.

The role requires supervising craft, coordinating permits, and managing subcontractors, with emphasis on strong communication and site organization. OSHA and trenching/rigging training are expected.

Qualifications

• Must have experience supervising projects in water or wastewater.
• Managing craft and self-performing work is preferred.
• Experience with self-performing cast-in-place concrete, piping, and mechanical equipment.
• Appropriate supervisory experience.
• Good communication and people skills.
• Computer proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel.
• Current Competent Person training in Trenching, Scaffolds, Rigging, Confined Space, and Fall Protection.
• Current OSHA 10-hour, First Aid & CPR, SWPPP Inspector, silica, Risk Management, and Accident training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the project to maintain a safe workplace and enforce safety policy.
• Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded.
• Perform short-term scheduling including manpower and equipment resources.
• Coordinate permit and regulatory inspections.
• Maintain field documents including daily reports.
• Capture progress photographs.
• Manage materials and inventory; handle spare parts.
• Coordinate subcontractors and staffing at the jobsite.
• Hire on site as needed.
• Review As-Built drawings and participate in post-construction review.
• Oversee small tools and ensure contract documents are followed.
• Identify and communicate scope changes to the Project Manager.
• Maintain a clean and orderly jobsite.
