Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. in Ft. Myers, FL is seeking a Project Manager – Water/Wastewater to lead complex construction projects from initiation through closeout. The role requires overseeing budgets, schedules, procurement, and subcontractor management while ensuring safety and quality.

You will coordinate with owners, consultants, and internal teams, mentor junior staff, and drive successful project outcomes with emphasis on client relationships and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in engineering or construction management.
• 6–10 years of construction management experience.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects from preconstruction to closeout.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate with Senior Project Managers, Project Executives, Superintendents.
• Experience with project startup and mobilization.
• Leadership to guide field personnel.
• Travel to project sites regularly.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout.
• Develop and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial reporting.
• Develop and monitor project schedules and recovery plans.
• Manage owner contracts, subcontract agreements, procurement activities, and vendor relationships.
• Lead owner, subcontractor, consultant, and internal coordination meetings.
• Oversee project staffing, resource allocation, and planning activities.
• Direct and mentor Interns, Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.
• Monitor safety, quality control, and production performance.
• Manage project risks, change orders, claims, and dispute resolution.
• Conduct regular site visits to review progress and safety compliance.
• Maintain strong client relationships and support repeat business opportunities.
