Path to Senior Project Engineer

Job summary

KLA Industries, a northern New Jersey manufacturer of water and wastewater process equipment, is seeking a Project Engineer in Boonton. The role is hands-on, owning projects from order to shipment, with time split between office, fabrication shop, and occasional customer sites.

Qualified candidates have a Mechanical Engineering degree and 4+ years of project engineering in manufacturing or public works, with strong drawings literacy and onsite availability in NJ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years' project engineering in manufacturing or water/wastewater.
• Hands-on ownership of engineered equipment projects end to end.
• Strong ability to read fabrication drawings.
• Local to northern New Jersey; onsite work only; no relocation.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from order receipt through shipment, meeting schedule and budget.
• Serve as customer-facing engineer with engineers, contractors, municipalities, end users.
• Prepare submittal packages, O&M docs, schedules, and cross-functional coordination.
• Work public works requirements: specs, prevailing wage, compliance, approvals.
• Coordinate with fabrication shop and outside fabricators on drawings and inspections.
• Review drawings for fit, function, manufacturability before shop.
• Participate in weekly project engineering and fabrication meetings.
