Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking a Project Engineer for a northern New Jersey manufacturer of water and wastewater equipment. This 100% onsite role splits time between office, fabrication shop, and occasional customer sites. You will own projects from order receipt to shipment, managing schedule and budget while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.

Requires a Mechanical Engineering degree and 4+ years of end-to-end project ownership. Local to northern NJ; no relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of project engineering experience in manufacturing, water and wastewater, or public works.
• Hands-on ownership of engineered equipment projects end to end.
• Strong ability to read and review fabrication drawings.
• Excellent organization and multi-project management with external stakeholders.
• Local to northern New Jersey; onsite work only.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineered equipment projects from order receipt through shipment, with schedule and budget.
• Serve as the customer-facing engineer on each project with consultants, contractors, municipalities, and end users.
• Prepare and manage submittal packages, O&M documents, project schedules, and cross-functional coordination.
• Work with public works requirements: specs, prevailing wage, compliance, and approvals.
• Coordinate daily with the in-house fabrication shop and outside fabricators on drawings and sequencing.
• Review drawings for fit, function, and manufacturability before shop.
• Participate in weekly project engineering and fabrication meetings to move backlog.
