Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Boonton, NJ is seeking a Project Engineer to own engineered equipment projects from order receipt through shipment, managing schedule, budget, submittals, and documentation while talking with customers and external partners.

The role splits time between the office, the company’s fabrication shop nearby, and occasional customer sites; the position is fully onsite in northern New Jersey. Strong mechanical aptitude and drawings experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 4+ years of project engineering in manufacturing, water/wastewater, or public works.
• Hands-on ownership of engineered equipment projects end-to-end.
• Strong ability to read fabrication drawings.
• Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication; onsite in northern NJ.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineered equipment projects from order receipt through shipment, keeping schedule and budget.
• Serve as the customer-facing engineer on each project with external stakeholders.
• Prepare and manage submittal packages, O&M documentation, and project schedules.
• Coordinate with sales, engineering, purchasing, and production.
• Comply with public works requirements including specs and prevailing wage.
• Coordinate with fabrication shop and outside fabricators on drawings and inspections.
• Review drawings for fit, function, and manufacturability; participate in weekly meetings.
