Job summary

Appleton Finn seeks a Project Engineer I to support delivery of complex water and wastewater projects in Indiana and Illinois. You will coordinate technical, commercial, and field activities across all construction phases, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to specifications and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience supporting water, wastewater, heavy civil, or utility construction projects.
• Familiarity with drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with weekly project reporting, forecasts, and executive recaps.
• Lead review and coordination of major equipment, electrical, instrumentation, and process submittals.
• Support monthly cost reporting, forecasting, and profitability projections.
• Assist with project budgeting, cost tracking, and production analysis.
• Develop and maintain project cost codes and budget controls.
• Assist with procurement and subcontractor buyout activities.
• Coordinate project documentation, contract administration, and owner communications.
• Mentor junior Project Engineers and support field operations teams.
• Participate in monthly forecasting and financial reporting.
• Review and process submittals; track quantities and installations.
• Support procurement logs, buyout tracking, and field layout tasks.
