Job summary

Aqua NJ is seeking a Project Engineer II under the direction of the Engineering Manager to lead water and wastewater capital projects.

You will coordinate planning through design, bidding, and execution, working with operations, engineering, and public officials to meet compliance and growth needs.

The role requires a PE license (NJ) or eligibility within 12 months, a Bachelor's in engineering, and 4+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
• Registered Professional Engineer in NJ or ability to obtain within 12 months from hire date.
• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in water, wastewater and buried utilities is required.
• Valid NJ Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Plan engineering projects in multiple divisions.
• Design water and sewer improvement projects (tanks, boosters, lift stations, WTP/WWTP projects).
• Collaborate with hydraulics modeling team.
• Submit permits and approvals; ensure required permits obtained.
• Coordinate construction: bidding, scheduling, cost estimating; manage contracts.
• Work with consultants on easements and property descriptions.
• Manage project financials (work orders, PO, invoicing).
• Collaborate across operations, engineering, accounting, customer service.
• Perform due diligence for possible acquisitions.
• Review water main extension plans to Aqua NJ design standards.
• Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
