Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks a senior engineer to grow the water/wastewater practice in the Richmond, VA region. The role focuses on leading project delivery, staff development, and client relationships to advance regional and national growth.

You will drive business development, manage the department’s financial performance, and ensure quality across services while coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer License or equivalent.
• 10+ years’ experience in the civil engineering specialty area.
• Project management and business development experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience working with local county and state level clients.
• Supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic growth plan with office managers and practice leaders.
• Establish and grow market presence in area through marketing and business development.
• Manage financial budget for department and allocate resources accordingly.
• Lead and contribute to the production of proposals.
• Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and staff.
• Hire and develop staff for the section.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide leadership to the team.
