Job summary

The City of Ames Water and Pollution Control Department invites applications for WPC Plant Student Operators. Under supervision, you will operate the Water and Pollution Control plant and pumping stations to treat wastewater for Ames, ISU, and Kelley.

Expect 16–19 hours weekly, with a rotating weekend schedule and after training, independent shift work. Ideal candidates are current college students in related fields, with willingness to commit 12 months and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Current college student pursuing a related field.
• Preferred: program in water/environmental treatment, engineering or chemistry; or one year with mechanical equipment.
• Must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Water and Pollution Control plant and pumping stations under supervision.
• Work approximately 16-19 hours per week, including two weekends on/ two weekends off.
• After training, work independently on assigned shifts and follow SOPs.
