Job summary

American Water in Davenport, IA is seeking a Pumping Station Operator to control and monitor the pumping station and the distribution control system. You will supervise pumps, valves, analyzers, and instrumentation to maintain water flow and pressure while ensuring system integrity.

The role requires basic computer skills and familiarity with SCADA systems, plus a high school diploma and 1–3 years of experience. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.

Responsibilities

• Operates, controls and maintains motors, pumps, valves and equipment to regulate flow and pressure.
• Monitors and records condition of pumps and equipment.
• Monitors charts and chart-recording equipment.
• Places pumps on line or shut down pumps as system demands.
• Monitors and controls electric feed systems and standby generation.
• Monitors and controls SCADA to ensure system integrity.
• Assists treatment operator as required.
• Monitors telephone and radio systems and plant surveillance.
• Maintains operation logs and prepares pumping reports.
• Performs housekeeping and other duties as assigned.
