Job summary

HKA Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a on-site, full-time Water & Wastewater Plant Operator in New Mexico (Santa Fe area) to operate treatment facilities and ensure compliant processing of wastewater.

You will monitor gauges, collect samples, perform routine lab tests, maintain logs, and respond to on-call shifts with 60-minute notice; NM Level 1 certification preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent.
• Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels; observe and report abnormalities.
• Maintain shift logs and record meter readings.
• Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses.
• Perform routine maintenance and custodial duties.
• Respond to on-call callouts within 60 minutes; work weekends/holidays.

What you'll do

• Operate valves, gates, pumps, engines, and generators manually or by remote control to adjust flow and treatment processes
• Monitor gauges, meters, and control panels; observe and report abnormalities to supervisor
• Maintain shift logs and record meter and gauge readings
• Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses
• Perform routine maintenance, equipment servicing, and custodial duties
• Respond to on-call callouts within 60 minutes; work weekends and holidays as required
• Perform other related duties as assigned

What you need

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license
• General computer knowledgeAbility and willingness to work on-call shifts and respond within 60 minutes
• Availability to work weekends and holidays

Nice to have

• New Mexico Level 1 certification in Water and/or Wastewater — or ability to obtain within 1 year
• 2+ years of experience operating water and/or wastewater treatment plants
• Knowledge of engines, pumps, related equipment, and basic biological/chemical principles
• Ability to enter data into spreadsheets and data management systems
