Job summary

City of Hickory seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the repair and overhaul of equipment at the city’s water and wastewater plants. You will supervise crews, assign work orders, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

The role requires technical know-how in electrical and mechanical systems, strong communication, and the ability to manage external vendors, track time, and support after-hours emergencies as part of on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance, repair and overhaul at treatment plants.
• Three to five years' experience in related field.
• Valid NC driver's license.
• State-certified license for water or wastewater treatment or distribution.
• Ability to work after hours and respond to emergencies.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for treatment plants.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and prioritize water plant maintenance work orders.
• Inspect job sites and monitor repairs.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and track time sheets.
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
• Train staff on complex circuitry repairs.
