Grays Harbor County is seeking a dedicated Utility Operator II to perform a range of water and wastewater operations and maintenance tasks. This essential role supports the county's water and wastewater systems, with duties varying by workload and staffing needs.

On-call and emergency response may be required. Responsibilities include operating pumps and meters, monitoring water quality, collecting samples, and assisting senior operators in system construction and maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Experience, education, or combination satisfying knowledge, skills, and abilities listed.
• Ability to pass a medical evaluation to declare fitness to use a respirator.
• Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving certifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect and adjust motors, pumps, and related equipment.
• Monitor water quality and maintain records to ensure compliance.
• Read meters, perform maintenance and testing of water meters.
• Collect samples, calibrate meters and run laboratory tests.
• Operate sludge equipment and manage de-watering processes.
• Read plans to locate utility lines before excavation.
• Follow safety regulations and emergency procedures.
