Position Overview

The Water-Wastewater Operator I performs routine tasks under supervision, maintaining plant compliance with EPA standards and state water commissions. Responsibilities include general cleaning, safety adherence, and assisting with plant operations.

Location and Schedule

Based near Naperville, IL. Schedule: Monday to Friday, with potential after-hours and weekend on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain treatment equipment, ensuring environmental compliance
• Perform repairs and coordinate major maintenance
• Assist with emergency procedures and safety protocols
• Maintain logs, prepare reports, and ensure recordkeeping compliance
• Clean and maintain facilities and equipment
• Conduct inspections and respond to customer inquiries
• Report safety concerns and perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of mechanical work experience
• High school diploma; ability to attain First-Level operator license within 1 year
• Preferred: First-level operator license, 1+ year in chemical treatment or utility field
• Physical ability to lift 75 lbs., walk extensively, climb, and perform repairs
• Ability to read meters, gauges, and technical information; effective communication skills
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and mobile devices

Work Environment

• Potential after-hours and weekend support
• Some travel within service areas
• Shift work and weekend scheduling may be required
