Overview
The Nexus Water Group team seeks a Water-Wastewater Operator I. Under supervision, performs routine tasks related to water and wastewater treatment facilities, maintains compliance with EPA and state standards, and ensures safety and sanitation.

Work Location and Schedule
Based near Elgin, IL. Schedule: Monday to Friday. After-hours and weekend on-call may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain treatment equipment, ensuring environmental compliance.
• Perform repairs or coordinate major repairs with vendors.
• Assist with emergency procedures and follow safety protocols.
• Prepare reports, logs, and maintain records.
• Clean and maintain facilities and equipment.
• Report safety concerns and perform inspections.
• Handle customer inquiries and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of mechanical work experience.
• High school diploma; ability to obtain First-Level operator license within 1 year; valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred: First-level operator license, experience in chemical treatment, or utility field experience.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, read meters, and operate equipment.
• Effective communication and record-keeping skills.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and mobile devices.

Work Environment

• On-call support, travel within service area, and shift work including weekends may be required.
