Job summary

City of Elmhurst seeks qualified Operator I/II to operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations. Roles vary from entry to skilled levels with supervision needs and opportunities to mentor others.

Responsibilities include monitoring systems, performing routine maintenance, responding to emergencies, and participating in on-call rotations. Relevant licenses and a valid driver’s license are required or obtainable within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Operator I: HS diploma/GED; 5 years experience or equivalent in water and wastewater systems.
• Operator II: HS diploma/GED; 1 year experience in operation and maintenance of equipment used in water and wastewater systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain WRF and related systems.
• Collect and analyze process labs and adjust operations as needed.
• Collect and analyze NPDES samples and adjust based on test data.
